Elizabeth Elting Elizabeth Elting

Liz Elting co-founded TransPerfect in 1992. Today, TransPerfect is the world’s largest privately held provider of language and business solutions. Headquartered in New York City, the company has over 70 offices in cities around the globe. Elting has earned numerous awards for her outstanding entrepreneurship and focus on developing women business leaders. They include: the Working Woman “Entrepreneurial Excellence” Award for Customer Service, the Ernst and Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award, and the American Express-Entrepreneur Magazine “Woman of the Year” Award. Recently, Elting received the “2011 Women Worth Watching” Award from the Diversity Journal.

Elting is profiled in several books, including The New York Times bestseller “Succeed by Your Own Terms” (McGraw-Hill), “Leadership Secrets of the World’s Most Successful CEOs” (Dearborn Trade Publishing), and “Straight Talk About Starting and Growing Your Business” (McGraw-Hill). She is featured regularly in the media, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, O (The Oprah Magazine), The Financial Times, Reader’s Digest, and Crain’s New York Business.

With Elting’s commitment and vision, TransPerfect has been a four-time recipient of the Inc. 5000 Award, a six-time honoree of the Deloitte Technology Fast 500, and has earned multiple Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service. Crain’s New York Business has named TransPerfect one of the largest privately held companies and one of the largest women-owned companies for six consecutive years. TransPerfect has also been named one of the fastest-growing women-owned/led businesses in North America by Entrepreneur and the Women President’s Organization.

Elting holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from The Stern School of Business at New York University and a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.

Phil Shawe
Co-CEO

Phil Shawe co-founded TransPerfect in 1992. Today, TransPerfect is a global family of companies and the world’s largest privately held provider of language and business services. Shawe oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, headquartered in New York City. Under Shawe’s leadership, TransPerfect has received numerous awards and distinctions. The company is a three-time honoree of the Inc. 5000 Award, a six-time honoree of the Deloitte Technology Fast 500, and has earned multiple Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service. Crain's New York Business has ranked TransPerfect as one of the largest privately held companies, as well as one of the largest women-owned companies, six years in a row. TransPerfect was also three times named one of the fastest-growing women-owned/led businesses in North America by Entrepreneur and the Women Presidents' Organization.

In 2008, Shawe was named to the prestigious “40 Under 40 list” by Crain’s New York Business. Shawe has spoken at New York University and Columbia University, and is a member of the Association for a Better New York (ABNY). Prior to his career in the language services industry, Shawe was a Financial Analyst at Chemical Bank and a Global Custody Consultant at Merrill Lynch. Shawe holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University's Stern School of Business, and he received his BS from the University of Florida where he triple majored in Finance, Marketing, and Risk Management.

 


Brooke Christian
Senior Vice President of Global Sales

A. Brooke Christian is Senior Vice President of Global Sales for TransPerfect, the world's largest privately held translation firm, which operates out of over 70 offices on five continents. Christian, who is based in Washington DC, joined the firm shortly after it was founded in 1992. He has directed the company’s sales and marketing initiatives through a period of unprecedented growth.

Today, he is responsible for generating revenues exceeding $150 million. Christian’s ability to accurately predict areas of global growth within specific industries has positioned him as an industry leader. He directs a 300-person sales team worldwide and is responsible for the strategic approach to marketing that has set TransPerfect apart in the translation arena. Most recently, Christian has focused his efforts on emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East. Christian speaks frequently at professional associations and meetings on issues affecting global growth and solutions-based marketing strategies. He has a MS in Sports and Business Management and a BS in Business Administration, both from the University of Florida.

 

Mark Peeler
Vice President of Global Production

Mark Peeler joined TransPerfect in 1997, bringing with him expertise in managing large scale, on-going projects. Currently, Peeler manages TransPerfect's staff of dedicated professionals that make up the company's Global Production team, including industry-specific departments, the interpretation coordination division, and the multilingual desktop publishing division. Peeler's unwavering attention to precision and efficiency, as well as his ability to create highly effective project teams, has enabled TransPerfect to constantly exceed clients' expectations for quality and service. Peeler has a BA from Duke University, where he triple majored in English, History, and Political Sciences.

 

Kevin Obarski
Vice President of US Sales

Kevin Obarski, Vice President of US Sales, joined TransPerfect's Atlanta office in 2001 as a Director of Business Development. Within months, Obarski was generating record-breaking revenues. His impressive sales performance was matched by an outstanding ability to motivate and lead other members of the TransPerfect sales team. Today, he oversees a full staff of regional directors, directors of business development, and account managers in TransPerfect's key US offices. Prior to joining TransPerfect, Obarski was Corporate Sales Manager for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. He holds a BA from the University of Florida with a double major in Finance and Management.

 

Jessica Eker Jessica Eker
Vice President of Global Life Sciences

Jessica Eker is Vice President of Global Life Sciences, and has been with TransPerfect since 2003. Primarily focused on the Life Sciences arena, and overseeing a global team of approximately 75 salespeople both in the life science space and out, Eker has helped the company establish worldwide partnerships with an array of pharmaceutical leaders including Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Novartis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Daiichi Sankyo, and Merck, and has been responsible for the development of the TransPerfect's Linguistic Validation practice. Eker's articles on translation for clinical trials can be read in both Future Pharmaceuticals and EPC (European Pharmaceutical Contractor) Magazine, and she was a featured speaker for the 2008 Drug Information Association's (DIA) Annual Conference. Eker was named “National VP of Sales of the Year” at the 2010 Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University in 2001 with a BSLA in Spanish, and a double minor in Business and Italian.

 

Jennifer Peters Jennifer Peters
Vice President of Business Development

Jennifer Peters is Vice President of Business Development, and has been with TransPerfect since 2002. Peters oversees several regional offices including Boston, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia. Primarily focused on highly regulated industries such as life sciences and finance, Peters has helped the company establish global relationships with industry leaders including JP Morgan Chase, AstraZeneca, and Wyeth, among others. Peters has published articles on translation in the life sciences industry, and can be read in DIA Forum and Future Pharmaceuticals. Peters works closely with executive management and quality assurance to establish innovative process improvements and was instrumental in the creation of the TransPerfect Linguist Certification program. She holds an MS in Education and a BS in Criminal Justice from Pace University.

 

Michael Sank
Vice President of Corporate Development

Michael Sank joined TransPerfect as a salesperson in 1997 when he opened the Los Angeles office. He subsequently led the company's global expansion as Vice President of International Operations, during which time he lived in London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Hong Kong, managing all sales and production in Europe and Asia. In his current role, Sank manages partnerships and other strategic ventures as well as M&A activity - including the company's mergers with Crimson, ArchiText, iSP, Overtaal, Quagnito, and Iverson. Working with incoming management, he has contributed to the integration, employee retention, growth, and overall success of these merger partners within the TransPerfect framework. In 2009 he served as Chairman of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA). He holds a BA, with Distinction in English, from San Diego State University.

 

Roy B. Trujillo
Chief Operating Officer

Chief Operating Officer, Roy B. Trujillo, has been with TransPerfect since 1999, bringing with him significant experience in areas related to the needs of the rapidly growing family of companies. Prior to his employment with TransPerfect, Trujillo served as President and CEO of Leona's Foods, Inc. During his time there, his efforts were largely responsible for transforming a small regional company into a national supplier of high-quality natural food products. The products developed and manufactured by LFI were sold under company owned brands as well as most of the nation's largest retailer's private label programs. Prior to his time at Leona's Foods, he held various technical and management positions at IBM, SBC Communications, and Chase Investment Services. Trujillo earned an MBA in Corporate Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies at New York University's Stern School of Business, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from New Mexico State University.

 

Robert DeNoia Robert DeNoia
Vice President of Human Resources

Robert DeNoia joined TransPerfect in 2008 as Vice President of Human Resources, reorganizing the company’s global HR team to address the needs of TransPerfect’s rapidly expanding international presence. Prior to joining TransPerfect, DeNoia spent 15 years with The Thomson Corporation in their Financial Media Division as VP, Human Resources. He successfully led the divesture of their publishing assets, launching the subsequent SourceMedia. DeNoia’s other affiliations include senior HR positions with The American Society of Civil Engineers and The Horn & Hardart Corporation. DeNoia holds a BBA from Baruch College (CUNY).

 

Marc H. Miller
Vice President of Quality Systems
President of Crimson Life Sciences Division

Marc H. Miller is President of the Crimson Life Sciences Division and Vice President of Quality Systems for TransPerfect. Originally founded in 1992, Crimson became part of the TransPerfect family of companies in 2005, and is the only translation organization in the world to be ISO 14971:2009-certified and hold certifications to both ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003. Prior to founding Crimson, Miller worked as a Senior Research Associate for the strategy consulting firm, S.I.A.R, where he authored assessments for US and European medical technology companies. Miller earned his MBA degree in Marketing from the Scottish Business School at Stirling University, Scotland, and his BA degree in Celtic Languages and Literature from Harvard University.

 

Mark Hagerty
Chief Technology Officer

Prior to joining TransPerfect in 2003, Mark Hagerty was the Director of Software Development at eTranslate, directing the development of the industry leading GMS technology that was eventually acquired by Translations.com. Prior to that Hagerty worked for eight years as a senior software engineer and manager at Adobe Systems, Inc. Hagerty was in charge of merging the internal customer databases and customer support systems when Adobe acquired Aldus in 1994. He was also one of the developers of the Adobe Type-On-Call product and was a key member of the teams that implemented PeopleSoft and SAP internally. Hagerty has 20 years of software development experience and is responsible for the technology vision and solutions that make TransPerfect and Translations.com an industry leader. Hagerty holds a BS in Mathematics and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University.

 

Matt Hauser
Vice President, Technology Sales

A ten-year plus veteran of the localization/translation industry, Matt has overseen all facets of technology sales for TransPerfect and Translations.com since 2007. Matt’s Technical Sales Team works closely with the entire global sales force of the TransPerfect family of companies to ensure that the proper combination of GlobalLink® applications is being presented to both current and prospective clients. Matt also takes an active role in managing enterprise engagements that involve technology, and is involved in both development and implementation of technology-related sales and marketing strategies. In addition to overseeing sales efforts for the GlobalLink® Product Suite, Matt manages global sales for Alchemy Software, the industry leader in visual translation memory solutions. Matt began his career with TransPerfect in 1996, handling sales for enterprise document translation for the Southeast Region, and moved into website localization and technology sales in 1999 with Translations.com. Currently based in Atlanta, GA, Matt is a graduate of The University of Florida and holds a BA in English.

 

Yu-Kai Ng
Chief Information Officer

Yu-Kai Ng joined TransPerfect in 2005. Under his direction, TransPerfect has successfully increased operational efficiency in pace with its rapid global expansion, and has effectively aligned IT investments with strategic business objectives across the TransPerfect Family of Companies. Prior to joining TransPerfect, Yu-Kai started a technical consulting practice whose clients included IBM and Siebel Systems. He has also held technical leadership positions at Respond.com, Full Circle Software, Puma Technology, and Adobe Systems. Yu-Kai has a BA in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Jordan Ellington
VP of Legal Technology
Founder of Deal Interactive Division

Jordan Ellington joined TransPerfect in April 2007 as Vice President of Legal Technology. As the founder of TransPerfect’s Deal Interactive division, Ellington brings over 20 years of application development experience designing systems for the corporate, financial, and legal vertical markets. Since 1993 he has developed many internal and client-facing applications for major corporate, financial services, and law firms, as well as developing the extranets of three of the top twenty U.S. law firms. In 1998, he was a recipient of the American Express Chairman's Award for Quality. In 1999, he founded Deal Interactive to service the secure document hosting and collaboration needs of global businesses, and to this day, continues to drive software development and manage the day-to-day operations of the business.
